Regional Government updates vehicle inspection fees in Madeira
Ordinance no. 178/2026, published in the Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, establishes the new fees for carrying out technical inspections and reinspections of vehicles in the Region. This update, which comes into force the day after publication, is based on the average annual inflation rate of 10.41%, set by the Regional Directorate of Statistics in December 2025.
Main Fees (Base values excluding VAT):
- Periodic Inspection (Light vehicles): €31.06
- Periodic Inspection (Heavy vehicles): €46.51
- Periodic Inspection (Trailers and semi-trailers): €31.06
- Periodic Reinspection (Light, Heavy, Trailers and semi-trailers): €7.78
- Extraordinary Inspection (Light, Heavy, Trailers and semi-trailers): €109.33
- Extraordinary Reinspection (Light, Heavy, Trailers and semi-trailers): €54.66
- Registration Inspection (Light, Heavy, Trailers and semi-trailers): €78.17
- Registration Reinspection (Light, Heavy, Trailers and semi-trailers): €39.08
- Inspections determined by Land Transport Services: €39.08
- Issuance of duplicate inspection report: €2.93
The decree also clarifies that reinspections are free of charge when the reason is exclusively the failure to provide proof of mandatory civil liability motor insurance at the time of inspection. Ordinance no. 526/2025, of September 19, is revoked with the entry into force of this new regime.
